Everything has a bright and a dark side, they say.
On my way back home from evening walk I visit book stores. There are many book shops on the road and I visit each of them everyday.Owners of these book shops have become my friends. They keep informing me about new books that are available with them.Often they help me get the book which I want to read, but which is not available with them.
Do you see anything bad or objectionable in my habit of visiting book shops everyday? My friends say I waste too much time in the shops.I tell them that I use my spare time only in visiting these shops. They say,'Love for books is good, but there is a dark side of everything.'But they never tell me what is bad in this habit.
Do you see what's bad in this habit?Or,is it wrong to say that there is a dark side of everything?

@boiboing,They are real book stores that deal in books prescribed for schools and colleges and books of literature and history. It takes me about an hour to visit all book stores. And like you,I too don't see anything wrong in visiting them everyday.

@else34 I have found that with most Indian book shops, it can take a week to find anything because only the owner knows where he filed things. So well worth cultivating some friendly bookshop owners who know what you are looking for.

I suppose as long as you dont spend money you cannot afford, or time that needs to be used elsewhere i don't see why it would matter.

I think it is a very good habit especially in these days when everyone is tied to their electronics. I am always attracted to book stores and I spend a lot of time in the local library

@Freelanzer,I highly appreciate your interest to reading books. You can understand how it feels when you touch a book of your choice, smell it and read it.I have inherited love for books from my parents.

I love books also and have a LOT of them in my home. I also go regularly to the library and also to thrift stores and look for books. I probably read at least two books per week and sometimes more.
I'm retired and have plenty of time to read. The Bible has something to say about books that might be interesting to you. Ecclesiastes 12:12 says: "To the making of many books there is no end and much devotion to them is wearisome to the flesh."
And then the next verse says: "The conclusion of the matter, everything having been heard, is: Fear the true God and keep his commandments. For this is the whole obligation of man. For the true God himself will bring every sort of work into the judgment in relation to every hidden thing, as to whether it is good or bad."
Something to think about.
