I am usually the one who is scared of everything unknown and have been working on my issues. In order to conquer certain fears, instead of running from them, I decided to run towards them. It is scary but I count all of that to the excitement and the thrill of conquering a fear. I did not realize that I would also have to do this with fears I did not know I had. Here is the background story, I'll try to be brief. I have had so many viruses and computer hackers it makes no sense. I have spent hundreds of dollars in computer repair programs and even have gotten good at eliminating some viruses myself. So naturally when the world was supposed to upgrade to Windows 10 I was a little bit skeptical and I didn't until the other day. Why? These hackers will use anything! Why is it so important to download Windows 10? Well I decided to go along with the whole chasing fears thing and schedule a download while I was sleeping. I am not scared of a simple download... (lol). When I awoke my computer was acting like an alien! Ok I may be exaggerating but I just came from Windows 7 and I am not used to my little computer talking to me like this. It never done that before. It stated... "We have all your files where you left them". I'm thinking... Who is "We"? Why is this message on my screen for 5-10 minutes? Then my computer told me to get excited and DO NOT CUT OFF MY COMPUTER. Has anyone seen that movie with Will Smith... IRobot, that's what it's called. I felt like that...like I was about to have a Terminator situation. At this point I am getting a little scared because... did I just download a monitoring program? I didn't even know I was scared of Windows, or Microsoft but the hairs on the back of my neck were like "whenever you are ready". I have a webcam on my computer. Is Microsoft watching me through WINDOWS 10? Furthermore, have I been watching too much TV? Now I know there are some Anti-Windows people out there and no program is perfect but seriously, is Microsoft getting a little scary to you? What did I get myself into? Was I wrong for downloading Windows 10?

@Shavydavy I have put off changing to Windows 10 because I have the fear of the unknown. Besides that, I have heard that there are people who have had problems. Let us know how it works out for you.

Is Windows 10 worth it?
Sure will! So far I cannot tell. I eventually agreed to download Windows 10 because they "told" me that my computer would run faster. It seems that everything else works the same but it has not been a week yet. I will dabble. Thanks for letting me know that I am not the only one afraid of downloads.

You should upgrade, it is the best Windows system for a long time. You computer will work faster because there is better memory and CPU usage. Get over the fear of the download @HazySue you will be better of for it.

I am a huge fan of Windows 10 and have performed the installation on 3 machines to date, without any hiccup. I made the mistake of upgrading from Windows 7 to Windows 8 and it was clear no-one like that new system, because junking it as soon as Windows 10 came by was something I don't regret. If you haven't upgraded as yet then you should. I have found my system works faster and is far more stable.

I was one of the first to download Windows 10 because I had Windows 8 and I absolutely hated it!!! Other than a few bugs, (like they still have problems with parental control). Yet, if I didn't have a teenager who can't monitor his computer time, I probably wouldn't even experience any problems.

I should've asked before I downloaded it. I would probably have made a different decision. This is how marketing gets you to unconsciously do things that you have to pay for later. They didn't want me to ask, that's why they kept popping up all over the place, making me think I was the only one without it. Warning to all! Before you download Windows 10, ask someone you trust and who already has downloaded it first.

I've been using Windows 10 since summer and, despite a few minor glitches, have been happy with it.

I am getting used to it myself. I realized that everyone around me has Windows 10 and I was using their operating machines. I learned Windows 10 through other machines. It's so funny how we don't realize what we are learning at times because the fact that I am more comfortable with it makes the experience a little less scary. However, while writing this post, my computer blacked out on me a couple of times. I wonder, does Microsoft know I am talking about them?

To date I have avoided downloading Windows 10. My laptop has Win8.1 and tbh I don't find it as bad as I'd been originally dreading from what I'd heard, so for now I've opted to not download Windows 10. You will need to let us know how you get on with this "alien" operating system once you are more used to it. Hope you like it.

FYI team Microsoft is a bunch of hackers to begin with. Albeit to what is being posted or said about Windows10 believe me the upgrade is inevitable and if I may add mandatory. So like it or not you will need to do it sooner or later and with the way things are going I'm going to say do it sooner than later. I know you are going to be having issues here and there but isn't it a "has-been" all this while. Besides, staying on with your previous OS (namely Win7 n Win8) is unthinkable since Microsoft is gonna ditched their support on them in a matter of time like WinXP. By then, the free and online upgrade will probably be gone and over. So kudos here for what you've done and give yourself a good pat on your back. Now, about your concerns let me tell you that they are all valid unfortunately for you and believe me they are not some kind of movie fiction. However, the person or persons at the other end won't be Microsoft since they are bound by the various clauses in your user's agreement, professional ethics and most of all, the law from doing those unethical eavesdropping or watching you. Hackers (black hats), spies from lands God knows, phishers, scammers and of course, your very own NSA only this one is in the name of national security. So you might wanna take privacy up on another level here. I think it is on you to protect yourself and most of all, your investment here. There are many available programs that could take care of your investment and yourself on the internet and they are all free of charge. So rather than getting yourself invaded and spending unnecessary money on repairs which are mostly some re-installation or removal jobs I'd rather that you spoil yourself on a day in a health spa or traveling. I strongly recommend the following if you want to protect your system and privacy today: 1. Advance System Care (Optimizer) 2. Avast Anti-Virus 3. Zonealarm (Firewall) - don't use their antivirus You can find them on the reliable CNET official website's download.com. There are paid versions where there will be more features but it's alright if you are not keen the free versions still works.
