Today's Plans

Two things going on today - Dinner to celebrate Mom's birthday, which is tomorrow, but today was the best day to celebrate, and getting the car taken care of. I'm not waiting until Thursday to get the car done. My son is a good mechanic, he might not be certified, but he's been doing most of the work on my cars since he started working on cars, many years now. When I went to pick my son up from work this morning for 3 AM the car gave me a scare that told me it wasn't going to last until Thursday - my opinion. I had my older son take a look at it just now and he's giving it a tuneup and oil change today. So I'll be canceling the appointment with the garage. He'll be doing that while I'm at dinner. We also need to go and get the necessary supplies for the tuneup and oil change. So my time will be limited until I get back from dinner. The supplies for him to do the work will cost half what the garage quoted me. My brother is picking me up at 3:30, not because the car needs work, but because my son works tonight and the car cannot be in two places at once, so he'll be taking the car to work, by which time my older son should have it finished. So that's what's happening in my neighborhood, what's happening in yours? Thanks for reading.

You are a busy woman today. Luckily my neck of the woods is quiet and calm. Well relatively speaking. The dog is growling at every passing fly and the kids are running back and forth in the house. My vacuum is calling my name, I am trying to ignore it. With the kids running, it won't be lonely for too long I am sure.

Don't you growl back at the dog so he will stop. lol why aren't the kids outside playing and running. @mommaj

Well the kids were after my parents cat, another reason the vacuum is starting to look like my friend. I didn't think to growl at the dog. I might have to do that. She just sounded like a car trying to start and the motor wouldn't turn over. My stepmom didn't know what to think of that.

Somehow that doesn't sound quiet and calm. Kids running in and out would drive me crazy. Did you succeed in ignoring the vacuum?

With your son doing the work on the car and the supplies costing half off what was quoted, even if you give your son some of the funds you are saving by him doing it you should be close to your goal of a new computer.

I am. I have enough left over for a nice computer, and will get it very soon. I also need to get the files off the hard drive. I can't wait to get a new computer. The laptop actually worked without a hitch yesterday, but today is a different story.

@Marcyaz So am I. It's nice to know he's qualified even if he isn't yet certified. That is his goal. It was more than the oil and filter, that's just for the oil change. He also got the spark plugs and wires and gapper for the tuneup. Even so it was less than what was quoted. I also got him some tools he didn't have yet, and even with those, it came out less than the quote I was given.

You might want you son to look on utube to see how to turn off that check engine light as you do it inside your vehicle and from what I understand it is quite easy. Hope you mom has a loverly birthday in this New Year. It is very quiet her today as usual just me and the critters.

At the moment it's half done, enough so my younger son can get to work and back. He'll finish it tomorrow. It will run very good when he gets it done.
