The 2015 Miss Universe mistake wasn't a mistake after all!

Hey guys,
I'm sure you're wondering what I am on about, but I just have to say this is something I heard from a close friend of mine.
As well all know the silly mistake that was made at the 2015 Miss Universe Pageant. The host of the show announced Miss Columbia to be the winner when it was actually Miss Philippines who had won the title.
As soon as the mistake was made and Miss Columbia was at the edge of the ramp waving out to the audience after being crowned Miss Universe 2015, the host, Steve Harvey, ran back on to the stage to admit that he had made a huge blunder and that the real winner was Miss Philippines.
Now here's what I heard. The teleprompter that was in front of Mr Steve Harvey was also showing him what he needed to say during the entire show. The card that he had in his hand stated the correct information on who won and who were the runner up's. But Mr Harvey did not need to read the card, he just read the teleprompter. Which means, as he stated, the card was right, but.....the teleprompter was incorrect. Now why would anyone cause such a huge blunder? Why would anyone put the wrong information on the teleprompter, especially when this show is being watched all over the globe!
Well I think it's because the entire Miss Universe extravaganza has died out. Not as many people are watching the show. Hardly anyone even remembers there is such a show. So to hype up the stats, this is what was done to get people to talk about it. Twitter, facebook and all other social media networks were and have been talking about what Mr Steve Harvey did, only making the rating of Miss Universe go even higher! Smart isn't it? I think it could be true.. but I know I could be wrong too!
What the heck. I feel sorry though, for Miss Columbia and that humiliating experience of having to take off the crown. Anyway what do you guys think?

Yes you are absolutely right. It is that special moment that makes the difference. She's going to have to remember it as a mistake. She did look so shocked. I was in awe myself. I do hope it's not true. Just wanted to share this with you guys as it was what I came across.

They want American Ratings. Miss Universe is Popular in Asia, Latin countries and some African countries but Europeans and Americans don't care about it. Now the winner is popular and she got a lot of opportunities.
It earned Billions from Latin countries but the American ratings matter because this is an American owned pageant. They tried making Miss Usa win despite of a terrible final answer before and it didn't help the ratings.
Have you notice European countries don't qualify as much anymore? Its because they want the Latino and Asian ratings.

@cxndie I remember India use to do well in this Pageant but the current Indian national director got lazy and they dont train the Indians girls anymore. They will just send her right away. India do bad these days because your new National director is lazy. I remember many Indians want him fired because of it. Your old national director is dedicated but he is replaced due to politics.
I think if they wanted American ratings, they should make the Winner a star. I think they might have succeed this time because of all the TV appearances she have.
I think Miss Colombia will be a star too because she is also talked about. So what happened to her and Miss Philippines is a blessing in disguise.
No one talks about the winners and runners up in the last 10 years except Latinos. Now the whole world talks about them.
This fiasco is planned though. This controversy happened after Donald trump sold the pageant to IMG.

Yes you are right. It's all about the ratings these days. Now the show and the winner have got all the popularity. Yes its true that European countries do not qualify but then I feel this entire show is all made up. I may be wrong.

@CaptAlbertWhisker wow you know a whole lot. I am inspired by your knowledge. Thanks for sharing so much information. I did not know so much about my own country. And yes all this started after Donald Trump Sold the pageant.

The only time I watched the Miss Universe Pageant was when Sushmita Sen was crowned. That was way back in early 1990s. Havent been any interested in that show ever.
It is unfortunate that all this happened on stage and definitely, I do understand the pain of returning the coveted crown. I am wondering why anyone has not sued the people who caused all the commotions.

True. My family members said the same thing as to why no one has been sued yet!

That's a theory that sounds reasonable. I had thought something else entirely. I thought “behind the scenes” Ms. Columbia was not liked very much and somebody did that just to humiliate and embarrass her. People put on their smiley faces in front of the camera, but you don't see or hear all the ruthless backbiting, scheming and conniving that's happening when the camera is not rolling.
What do I know? I wasn't there! But I thunk it!! No matter what story they told the public, I felt like it wasn't a mistake. It was an intentional mishap. Whatever! The pageant is getting old and boring like you say. Maybe they did just need some controversy to get back into the spotlight.

@cxndie - Oh! So the ratings did go up? Well in that case I now think it was planned and coordinated. Whether the ratings went up or not, I still don't bother watching. For the past few years, the only reason we saw the pageant was because my husband was flipping the channels and stopped to watch. He always looks to see who is Miss Bahamas and I always look to see who is Miss America. Hey! It's our country. Gotta see who's representin'!
