AWANA Tonight

Back in September I started going to the church I'm going to now and signed up as an AWANA leader. It was that first night I broke my leg. Now here we are, winter, and Christmas is over and AWANA is starting up again. My leg is mostly healed, I can walk without the aid of a walker for the most part. So I'm headed to church tonight and I promised my son I would not fall.
I checked the weather, we don't have any snow or rain for tonight, and they plowed out the church parking lot pretty good, so I should not have any problems tonight. I also promised myself I would be extra careful. I don't need anymore accidents.
For those who don't know - AWANA is a youth program that teaches children the Bible through memorization. There are also games and other fun things they do. The kids love it. So do I. My kids were in it when they were little and always had lots of fun.
So those are my plans and I will be leaving in half an hour to take my son to work and then it will be off to church for me.
Thanks for reading.

My children have AWANA tonight as well, they LOVE it so much! They learn a ton too. =) My husband and I go into adult bible study while they are in Awana class. We have to be there at 6:30pm. I hope you enjoy tonight!

@Jessicalynnt Yes it is, but right now with all the snow melt, it's turning to ice.

Absolutely not!
I've been thinking about moving to a warmer climate because of the snow and ice. I love winter and I don't know how I would handle a winter without snow, but I admit going outside now with all the snow on the ground is scary. I'm petrified I'm going to fall again.

I wish you the best in that ministry. Glad to hear that you can now walk without walker and even gladder to know you are able to join that wonderful activity.
I would be very glad to teach kids the Bible through memorization again. I used to do that. They have great memories so they can easily learn that way. But right now, my church ministry is teaching the Bible to the adult Ladies.

Your church doesn't have more than one ministry? It was lots of fun tonight.

Perhaps Donald Trump should have attended an AWANA program as a youth. He is a Presbyterian (my denomination), yet when he was asked his favorite Bible verse, he could not recite a single one. I felt embarrassed for my faith.

@DeborahDiane It's sad to think these are the people who will be leading our country when they don't even know anything about God or the Bible. I know that it isn't crucial for our leaders to know anything about the Bible, especially with the way they want to take it out of our lives, but it is important to me.

It really is. The kids learn Bible verses and receive rewards for doing so, and they play games which are a lot of fun and high excitement for the kids.

Never heard of AWANA til I saw it on a church sign a few years ago. I grew up with Girl's Auxiliary, the boys had Royal Ambasators and Sword Drill in which your learn bible skills and competed at different levels. In competition we had eight seconds to find verses of the Bible, or books of the Bible (where if called on you had to give the book before and after to get points if called on) but at practice a friend and I would drill with a time limit of 4 seconds and we were always in the top 3 at meets.
