Lasiks is actually an acronym. We all know what the acronym means or is in layman terms. Do we know what the acronym stands for?
Lasik= laser on-situ keratomileusis. Yeah I know a mouthful. Lasiks is corrective surgery for people with vision problems ranging from nearsightedness which it's called being myopic to hyperopic which are farsighted persons.
However it isn't limited to just them. Lasiks is also used to treat people who also astigmatism. Astigmatism is when an individual has a misshaped cornea.
When a persons cornea is not shaped like a baseball and is more like a football it affects how the light reflects off of the retina.
The retina is the part ot the eye that makes the things we see clear when we have an astigmatism it makes the images made by your retina unfocused (blurred ).

@pgiblett the doctors said that with her vision being so poor even if she had the lasiks done that she would probably still have to ware glasses to read which she is okay with she doesn't mind wearing them what bugs her is that she can't even wear sunglasses unless they have a script or shes walking into things and tripping. She has dbeen wearing glasses and contacts since she was a young child. We pay cash for all medical visits and treatments meds etc and minimum is $25,000 so it is very likely that she won't be getting it anytime soon.
