Writing short story for magazine

Indonesia
January 7, 2016 6:13pm CST
This is my 2nd try sending short story for children magazine. My 1st try was succeed, but I did not know it was published. It was when I moved to new place, different city from my old place. I think they sent the magazine as proof that they published my story to my old address. I did not get notification so I did not bother to check my bank account to see how much did I get paid . How do I find out? Last year I googled my name to see if my facebook account still on there, I decided to deleted my fb. I found my name along with my short story in the magazine website, there's information about the issue number. I was surprised, happy, and don't know what to do because I find out about it after 2 years of publish Now, I'm trying my luck again,,, perhaps

@mrswhitfield if writers quit when work was turned down there would be few books on the shelves today - we should all keep writing

The first thing I want to know is how much I get paid for it! I think if the rate is good, I will have motivation to write more. Even if they reject half the stories, at least I still get paid for the other half.

I am not sure how much did I get paid for my 1st story, but someone who also write story for same magazine said that its around $20-$30/story. Much more than I expected,, and it really worth to try

That's awesome that your work was published in a magazine. You should be happy about that. Keep up the good work.

Good for you. And I say better late than never. That is also one of my dreams - to be able to have an article, or story published that I have written. I do have published articles written for a health and beauty website about product reviews, but for me nothing beats a printed medium like a book or magazine. Good luck on your second try!

Yes, nothing beat the printed one, it's like a treasure. I'm trying to get the copy of magazine issue where my story published. Good luck for us
