What are the signs for emoticons?

Well, I'm still new and can't seem to find a way of attaching emoticons to my posts and comments? Does anyone know where they are, or what keys create them? Like for example, I know that of course a regular smiley face is like this: :) Any others?

All of the emoticons here on myLot are hiding under the myLot Code link under the compose box.
