For Oxford, the 2015 word of the year was really not a word at all. It's a kind of emoji that gained fame from social networking site, facebook. See the picture attached, that's the word of the year, it's an emoji.
Dictionary.com chose 'identity' as the word of the year for 2015. Purely because of the popularity of identity issues of celebrities such as Miley Cyrus and Bruce Jenner.
On the other hand, Merriam-Webster had picked '-ism' to be their 2015 word of the year. Seven word received the huge searches last year: socialism, fascism, racism, feminism, communism, capitalism, terrorism.

Sad. Just sad. This is what the future of communication looks like, with emojis substituting for body language. Maybe next year's Oxford winner will be a shrug.

Not necessarily that an emoji was chosen as a 2015 word of the year, it will also be the future of communication.

That's good to know. So it means that the emoji speaks louder than words.

@trivia79 Oxford, dictionary.com and meriam webster have the enormous sources of words we can acquire every day. I am convinced over the fact that they are the most reliable. Thank you for the info again. Did you study in Harvard?
