Spur of the Moment Reunions

During the Christmas holidays, college friends and I agreed that we would get together on January 2nd. But on January 1st, I tripped and fell, so it did not push through.
After moving the date several times since then, I was surprised when they said we're meeting today. I told them to go ahead because I have things to do first. I arrived 1.5 hours late, so I ate the leftovers. Hahaha!
They thought I was never going to show up, so I'm glad I ignored my tiredness and spent money on a taxi to get there because we had another great time talking, laughing, sharing, joking and taking pictures until 8.30pm.
Our first reunion in June last year was also 'biglaan' (spur of the moment; on short notice) and before we parted tonight, the plan was potluck and karaoke at someone's house next Sunday.
Have you ever had impromptu get-togethers with family, relatives, old friends, classmates or co-workers that turned out well even if it's just to eat and reconnect? Does the food and venue matter?
I love how we happened to all be available today and just seized the opportunity again. The original choice for this meet-up was a Japanese and Korean buffet that some of us were unfamiliar with, but abruptly changed to an easy-to-find pizza place. Now that I think about it, we would probably be less lively and not allowed to linger too long if we were at the Asian buffet.

They say that the best get togethers and parties are those that happen without any planning ahead. When I was still living there, I remember my old college buddies and I just hopped on an FX taxi, and instead of just heading to Megamall like we originally planned, we convinced "manong" driver to just go on and drive us all the way to Tagaytay!

@hereandthere I cannot remember, but we filled the FX and divided the fee amongst ourselves, and manong driver was generous enough to pay for the toll himself.

It's so good that you still have reunions with your college friends. It's sad to say that I rarely have reunions with my schoolmates or college mates now. Most of us stay in different places, and it's hard to just gather everyone. I still keep in touch with some of them, but not all.
It's really fun to have such gatherings!

it's been decades so facebook and cellphones helped a lot in organizing it.

Spontaneous and abrupt decisions of reunions are very fun and enjoyable, because every ounce of energy is spent on enjoying it and not planning beforehand. Sometimes friends came over my house and we had hours of laughter and gossip which made my day.

it was like we're back to being carefree students again, but because we haven't seen each other in decades, the topics can go off in different directions.
