No Good Deed Goes Unpunished

This is one of Murphy's Laws. It's the one that always applies to me. I do a good deed and I get punished for it. It's always the case. This time I scheduled something for Thursday of last week and then found out I could have had my car fixed on that day. It was great driving weather and would have been an easy trip, but I chose Tuesday because I already made plans and honored them. Now Tuesday is multiple heavy snow warnings, and I can't drive over four hours in a blizzard. I will have to delay getting my car fixed for another week, because this storm will last all week and it won't be safe to travel until then. -sigh- Every time I do something good I get punished. I wonder why I even bother being nice any more.

In reality, it's probably 50/50. I recently helped an older man at the Versatel machine and no bad came of it. But I can think of times when good deeds were punished.

I helped a kid that owed 12 cents that he didn't have the other day and it resulted in having now numbers on the lotto tickets actually there. so I guess that was a minor punishment. But if I give someone a ride my headlights blow. If I help someone do something, my own schedule goes wrong. If I go out of my way then I get injured. I don't think I win ever.

Can't say I can relate. Yes it seems to happen but not that often, I just mark it down to "life"

To me it happens all the time. It's a little more than just life.

The silver lining is an illusion here!

@OneOfMany Sorry that it doesn't work for you but I have become good at always finding one in all my situations. I'm a believer that with God nothing is impossible.

I think I will delay, I don't like driving into snow storms when I can avoid them.

It might mean I'm supposed to be bad and not do good deeds. Who can say? :D

@OneOfMany maybe you are suffering on behalf of others?

@HanVanMeegerin Or I suffer because I cause suffering and the good deeds aren't enough to cover what I cause? But if one can shape the world with their stray thoughts, then should they suffer from the world being so fragile?
