Writing under an Alias

I'm noticing a lot of you MyLot'ers writing posts about using Aliases or being anonymous.I don't know if something specific brought this up but I will add my two cents. Most of my online writing... I use my real name... I have no reason to hide anything. As an experiment, I admit that I have written under an alias before. I have published 3 ebooks via Kindle that were very successful. each were published using different names. No connections between the three. No advertisements on my part but they were still successful. Moreso than anything I have used my real name and promoted myself.

I did a post about writing under an alias, just spur of the moment...it came into my mind.

Can we say its just a case of great minds thinking alike? NOT including my mind in that... I'm referring to the numerous alias posts I saw.

my real name is boring. by using an alias, i can sort of comment in "character"

I think it is a personal thing, I have always written under my own name but I know plenty of writers who use pseudonyms and there are some that use a different name on each site they visit, which in my opinion is daft.

That seems odd that your ebooks did better when you used an alias.

even odder that I never promoted them at all!

I have always used this name on all my sites. Not really sure why. Not hiding anything. Just being different I guess
