Being Asian, rice is a household staple. We eat rice 3 times a day. Now, I at least eat it a few times a week. Mainly because my boyfriend is not a big rice eater, but he eats it. Just not that much. Which is fine, apparently, my favorite white rice is full of carbohydrates. And it's not the good kind unlike the carbs in brown rice. He also said I cook the best rice that he has ever tasted. I steamed it, or cooked it on a rice cooker and have plain rice. I make garlic fried rice out of the leftovers. And when I am feeling a little fancy, I cook it over the stove like how I would cook Spanish rice only with lesser meat and heavy sauces. I can also make it into a rice porridge, or arroz caldo. And I can make sticky rice cakes using glutinous rice. I think I got this rice business down pat.

I'm Asian, but I absolutely dislike rice. I eat rice probably one a week (at most). Usually once every two weeks maybe. My household eats rice (like parents, etc just not I).

I have never heard of an Asian who dislikes rice! But then again it doesn't matter what your race is, it really boils down to someone's preference.

@infatuatedbby Ha ha - how can you not like rice? Honestly, when I used to live with my parents, I got sick of rice. I don't think I disliked it - I just got bored with it as we had it nearly every night. Now as an adult with my own family, I LOVE rice, but we don't have it all the time.

Ohhh, we'd get along really well in the rice kitchen! I LOVE my rice - any kind and prepared in almost any way. I never used to like brown rice, but I've been making it every now and then - luckily the kids are fine with it too. I know it's so carby - but oh well - I'll keep eating my rice!!!

@Raine38 I wouldn't be able to either! I can't even cut it down - if anything, I want MORE ! Brown rice has a nuttier flavor - you get used to it after a while. But the white definitely wins with me!!

Yay! I know I would not be able to eliminate rice from my diet completely. I can cut it down, but not totally eliminate it. I like it too much! I still have not developed any liking for brown rice though.

@much2say I hope I develop a taste for it. We are trying to eat healthier so that would be a good start.

Even if I am a Chinese, but usually we just have rice for lunch and dinner. We seldom will have rice as breakfast as it seems it is too much. But in fact I like to use rice to make the congee or sushi. I really enjoy eating sushi and that is the way for me to eat much rice.

Usually, rice for breakfast is leftover from last night's dinner. We make it to garlic fried rice and eat it with bacon or ham and eggs. But now, that is too much even for me.
