Are You An Overrated Workaholic?

Some people cannot comprehend the way you work so hard. It is not for oneself but for the close people connected to your life. It is just simply be someone as a contributor in the society. Of course, no one likes to be empty handed. The reality check is that no one can give full support in the name of monetary values. It takes a lot of second thought for someone to lend money to you. Personally speaking, I am not that workaholic. I don’t want to be called Mr. Jack. As described, all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy. It should be done in balance. I don’t want to be ruled by money. It should be me to rule the money itself. How about you, guys? Are you a workaholic with no balance at all?

Before children yes a workaholic but when you have kids you can't be a workaholic and a parent who is present. so I make work second priority.

@lokisdad It shows how passionate you are with kids. I do agree on that. It should be family first.

@lokisdad I agree with the old saying, money cannot buy anything especially if health will be jeopardized due to overwork and forget that health is also an essential part in his or her life.

@Shavkat over time you come to realize that you have to choose one or the other and money will not bring back the things you missed. no matter how much money make it doesn't make them happy. A gift can't replace your presence. So I thought it was better to be here and make priceless memories with them that money can't buy.

I have to admit - I take up overtime offers at my job when theyre available. Its easy for me because I dont have children to take care of. Even working 8 hours of overtime per week adds up and still allows you to have a social life!

@maezee I have the same mentality. If there is a chance, I took overtime with open arms. Since I can do it for an additional hours. As long as they pay for it.

Some people just do not need a life outside work. They enjoy their work so much that they can talk about it even in their sleep. There is no need to engage them in other activities that they are not happy with.

@scheng1 As long you are happy doing one's job, then it is fine. Some people do have their own world. The most important thing is that they are happy.

I wouldn't describe myself as an workaholic. I mean whenever the working schedule is over I'm done and I head home

@swissheart If time permits, we can take the time to rest. I do the same thing. If my work is done, it is the sign to tone down myself and prepare for the succeeding days.

I know the feeling. We are definitely not ruled by money. Things are usually always tight, but we spend a lot of time with our children and have fun.

@cpefley I am into quality time with the family. It is not always the hardship of having the money in the pocket. Of course, we still need to balance things up between work and family.

I must confess that I work more than normal but not to the point of being a workaholic, work is something i enjoy doing, I get bored doing nothing so i always find things to tinker with. I work more than usual cause i work for myself, i have no boss and ran my own biz.

@softbabe44 I agree. We can say so many things about being workaholic. Sometimes we don't know the real reason in every individual who choose to be one.

Balance in life is my credo and that has served me well. No point in accumulating wealth for its own sake or to impress people - in the end we deceive ourselves - siva

@Shiva I do agree on that. It is liking cheating oneself. It is not healthy to be in such position.
