It's already been a terrible year for music...and it's just 18 days old. In addition to the loss of Glenn Frey, Mott the Hoople drummer and co-founder Dale Griffin died today of Alzheimer's disease. Mott the Hoople, fronted by the perpetual sunglass-wearing Ian Hunter, had a string of hits, the biggest of which was "All the Young Dudes." Ironically, that song was written by David Bowie, who died January 11. One of the most sobering things about getting older is that our musical icons are also getting older...and now they're leaving us at seemingly an alarming rate. Farewell to Dale Griffin, who was 67.
Hott the Hoople consisting at this point of Ian Hunter (vocals, guitar), Mick Ralphs (lead & rhythm guitar), Overend Watts (bass), Verden Allen(keys), & Dale...
