We had the case presentation on ectopic pregnancy with my level 2 nursing students this morning. I was the first to arrive, as usual. Upon arrival in school though, I was informed that we must attend the Tuesday forum at the gymnasium. I asked WHY? We do not usually attend this meeting, but one colleague told me that the 2 national topnotchers in the recent licensure examination for nurses will be presented; hence, I went up and waited for my other colleagues. So, after the singing of the national anthem (one third year student did not have the right beat for the hymn- it should be 4/4’s but she beat with ¾’s), the 2 ladies were introduced by our dean. Both of them wore dresses and wedged shoes, to which they whispered to me,”Ma’am, we don’t know how to walk with these sandals”. Claps and whistles were heard. When they went back, I gave my phone to a male Custom’s Broker student and asked him to take pictures of the two, and later, I joined them. I immediately accepted their friend requests when I posted their pictures on FB. Appreciation--- those were the words that came out of their mouths after the presentation. “Ma’am, we owe our being topnotchers to you our clinical instructors”. What a feeling! I am so happy for them.

thank you, my lady. And I have always been slim, since college. even when I got pregnant, imagine me in that body structure in the picture but with big belly. That was how I looked before and till now... slim. wahaha! yes, that is great being appreciated by the colleagues we have now; they acknowledge that in one way, we help them reach their goals

@SIMPLYD I am not sure. I am a voracious eater, I can eat an elephant when I am super hungry but I stay slim. the most I gained weight was 54 kgs. I eat less rice now, but more of protein. Maybe because I subconsciously must not stay fat; the heart ailment prevents me from getting fat at all.

@ridingbet Well, you are one of the few professors that is happy when they achieved their students' dreams. Because I have encountered that is very insecure with their pupils..

@wiLLmaH I am always asked by the staff nurses at the medical ward why I don't apply as Nurse 2 in the institution. I also always tell them that it is my vocation now to teach the new minds into becoming professional and successful nurses as me. And we should never be envious of our students; it shows our immaturity if we get envious of their successes.

@ridingbet well if they're still young and they don't have mouths to feed, they should at least enjoy their journey.

@yalul070 true, but these young minds want to explore the world of nursing now.we always remind them that they will practice their vocation for a lifetime now, and we hope they won't get tired giving care to the sick.

their next "dilemma" is to find a job. but before having that, they should be IV therapists, and have passed BLS/ACLS.

There will never be topnotchers if there were no good and patient instructors. You also deserved thanks and praises.

true, my friend. and even though I am strict in the area, they acknowledge that what I do is for their own good. the picture is taken by that Custom's broker student, and he did not even say "cheese" or "10203". hahaha!
