We used to quite respect the police officers in Hong Kong until the student movement happened in the last two years. Since many students and civilians were protest on the streets, the policemen were ordered to increase their control and patrol in the city. the conflicts between the students and the policemen started to increase. There were some case the policemen have been recorded by camera that they used power in an inappropriate way. The case is still under investigation but the relationship between the civilians and the police officers are being affected in a great way. Well, how about your city? Share with us.

our police are the best in the World if they are reading this - if they are not reading, they are officious and heavy handed, often moving in mob handed to deal with minor situations and harassing people over the slightest matter as well as being intrinsically racist - many times they just don't even investigate incidents

OMG! here in the Philippines, many police are so epic. They run slower than the thief because of their large bellies (which are accumulated through drinking and eating a lot in which the money they used was came from the public transport drivers who paid them a small amount for the sake of their violations be vanish).

Ha ha, I feel funny when you say they run slower than the thief because they eat and drink too much with a belly. For sure it is true because when they were still in police academy, they need to be fit and keep on running everyday. But after their graduation, it is hard to get them to keep on jogging all days since they are busy to walk around or talk around as well. I have a few response in this discussion up to this point. The only person who would say nothing about the police because this mylot member is living in a small town. perhaps there is no need for any police anyway. All the other people who response in this discussion will just gave a negative comment to the police in their own city or country as well. Well, I think the image of the police is not quite a good one for the society as a whole then.I am not sure if this will be improve in the future or not. But whenever the society do have bad guys, we still need some police to deal with those bay guys. Anyway, thank you for your sharing. It was fun. ha ha

@wildlittlefan the stereotype of a police in our country changes from time to time. Before, they were brave and fit men with strong dignity and love for the country. Now, negative thoughts have taken place to them and what i mentioned were just an example haha. But honestly speaking, we have still good policemen roaming around. In fact, I read an article in the newsfeed of my fb about a police who are giving free bibles to some passengers of some jeepneys in our metro. It feels good knowing such very good news

the reality is that policemen are just people doing a job, there job gives them a sort of dominion over you and makes them above the law at times but they are still human. The rash of policeman killing citizens you see on tv, shows that the flaws of human nature dont stop when you become a policeman it might actually make you more untrusting when you deal with criminals all the time. I'm sad to say that the old saying applies in a lot of cases that power corrupts. its not all police but the bad ones give the good ones a black eye

In the United States, our police tend to be really good. There's an incredible amount of crime here, and an incredible amount of pressure on police not to use excessive force, even when faced with criminals who fail to drop weapons, attack the police and try to take their weapons, etc. We have some bad cops here (it's large country), but overall our police are excellent and deserving of praise for their professionalism and restraint.
