I remember when my youngest sister is still 3-4 years old (she’s 16 now), I would read to her nursery rhymes. That one night, I came up to her bedroom and saw her crying. I asked her why, and she said that poor Humpty Dumpty is dead. Trying to reason to a toddler, I said something along the line that he is not dead, he is just cracked like how eggs do when they fall, the eggs don’t die they crack and that is why happened to Humpty Dumpty. She looked at me, and with quivering lips, told me that there’s nothing in the book that says Humpty Dumpty is an egg, and what if he is a boy and he hurt himself when he fell and so he died?
It was a little creepy and cute at the same time. She was so upset thinking that Humpty Dumpty is a boy and he got hurt so bad. Looking back at it now, it was funny and she was right. The rhyme did not mention anything about him being an egg. I messaged my sister about this and she said she cannot remember it anymore.

I do remember it. Poor children, sometimes are scared by these nursery stories.
I hope the little one will be alright.
It is sad to see your child sad too.

@Raine38 I felt so sad when you said about the lip quivering. It made me remember when my son was little, we were at a grocery store and in those days, there were still videos for VCR. He was looking at the selection, he was only about 5 or so, and he looked at one of some sort of gremlin things, and he got so scared when we got home, he jumped up on my lap and told me they might come to the apartment. It was so sad, I had no idea what was scaring him. But kids soak up a lot of information.
