Do You Have a Woman in Your Life You Admire

I read a post earlier today about a woman who was rather remarkable. In the discussion to follow it seems there aren't enough women with stories to tell. So do you have one? The woman I admire most is my paternal grandmother. Her name was Viola. She was selfless. I think hospitality could have been her middle name. For most of my childhood into adult years she had people living with her. One was a school teacher. I enjoyed spending time with her and even went to her parent's home one summer. However, this is about my grandmother. She was a Sunday School teacher, and she picked up kids in the neighborhood and took them to church on Sunday mornings. My grandmother also had her Bible opened on the table every night. She didn't have it there only the night before she had to teach, but every night. She was the embodiment of the Fruit of the Spirit - love, joy, peace, patience, goodness, meekness/kindness, gentleness, faith, and self-control. I never saw her get angry, not even when my father and grandfather were having their arguments, but she calmly broke up the arguments and returned peace to her home. She was patient beyond measure. She would need to be with a son like my father. Without hesitation she took her Sunday school group on field trips. I went on a couple of them when I stayed a few weeks in summer with my grandparents. One was to the Milwaukee Zoo, and another was to visit a church and listen to the minister speak, who just happened to be my Godfather. My grandmother might not have discovered anything great, climbed any mountains, or crossed oceans. She never left Green Bay where she was born and eventually died. Yet she had a long and fulfilling life of kindness, blessing all those she came in contact with. What is your story? Who is the woman you most admire in your life and why? Thanks for reading.

Two of mine would be my Advisor from Graduate School at UCSB and my Auntie, who is now 92 but still sharp as a tack.

What a wonderful woman she must have been. The woman I admire most would have to be my mother. She coped with 3 small children while my dad was fighting in ww2.

It would have to be my mother although it was not true when I was young and stupid. I appreciate her more now that I am raising a family
