the curious incident of the single grey hair

A woman was sitting on the bus. Her long, shiny locks were a deep raven black. Yet, look! What is that? A lone grey hair, shimmering and sparkling like a diamond, is fighting its way out of the darkness, not wanting to be swallowed by the blackest black.
I feel a desperate need to reach out and pull it. My fingers are itching to get at it. What harm can it do? She may even be thankful; I suspect she doesn't even know it exists.
I practically have to sit on my hands to stop them developing a mind of their own. But I continue to gaze longingly at the single grey hair as if my life won't be complete until I pull it from her head. The desire is all-consuming.
Oopsy. I nearly missed my stop.
Am I alone in finding myself have sudden, bizarre, impulses?

Oh my goodness, what is it with spots! They were designed purely so we could fill some insatiable appetite for squeezing things. I wonder if that's where our obsession with bubble wrap comes from!

I spend at least fourteen hours a week on buses. :)

We have that superstition here too. I've never let it stop me pulling my own grey hairs out ... which is probably why I have so many. *laughs*

I guess we all have that itch. I too would want to pull it if I see that it is aone in a nest of black hair.

I understand your urge to want to pull it out. Maybe she does know it is there and likes it. Did you think of that one? Me, I would not want it there but I would prefer to color it.

. I can understand your urge - I feel the same sort of thing if I see a label poking up out of the back of someone's dress. I want to tuck it back in.
