January Thaw

To say I wasn't expecting what I saw when I stepped outside to go to church this morning was an understatement.
I heard birds chirping from nearby trees and even looked up to see if I could spot them among the bare branches. They eluded my sight, however, the puddles all over the sidewalks and roads did not elude my eyesight, nor the fact that I was a bit overdressed for church.
I didn't need my sock monkey hat or gloves, and I probably didn't need my heavy winter jacket either. I took off the hat when I got in the car and took off the gloves when I got to church.
I saw people without jackets of any kind as they headed into church this morning. So what gives with the weather? I thought there was another huge winter storm system baring down on us?
There is, but it's not going to arrive on my doorstep before Tuesday when we're expected to get 3-5 inches unless the totals have changed since yesterday, and with this thaw going on it's likely for my neck of the woods which tends to miss all the great snow storms.
So anyway without looking at the temp on the weather site I'm going to guess we're hanging somewhere around 40* out there right now - warm. It's shirtsleeve weather and I saw plenty of people who thought the same thing.
So what is the weather like by you today? Did you get any kind of surprise when you stepped out the door for church or other activities this morning?
Thanks for reading.

@Auntylou We got about six inches last time and I didn't even know we were getting any. This time it is going to be less unless we end up with more, which I would love, as I love snow. With my luck though, being where we're located, it could bypass us completely and we would end up with nothing. Now that in my humble opinion would be very bad.
But then I love winter.

For our Sunday it hit 60 degrees here i did not have to wear a jacket. I was okay with just walking out in a hoodie etc and it's going to be the same today already in the 50's at 930am. Not supposed to get cold again til Thursday so going to enjoy every minute of it.
