Have You Ever Been Through the Mont Blanc Tunnel?

I was watching a program on TV recently and there was a short narrative about the Mont Blanc Tunnel that was completed in 1965.
To be honest, it was not something that I was familiar with, even though they said, at the time it was completed, it was the longest tunnel in the world. I like knowing things like that, just in case, it comes up on Jeopardy! Hah!
Anyway, it is seven miles long passing beneath the highest mountain in Europe, which is Mont Blanc. It connects Chamonix, France with Courmayeur, Italy. I jotted that down real fast. I always have my notebook and pen beside me when I’m watching a documentary or any similar program. I pick up a LOT of trivia that way.
Is there anyone on MyLot that has passed through this tunnel? It would be quite interesting to do so. I just can’t imagine doing it. I’m not claustrophobic, but just thinking about this huge mountain above the tunnel gives me the shivers.

Yes I have been through the Mont Blanc Tunnel, but I believe it is no longer the longest tunnel in the world, I believe the Channel Tunnel is much longer at just over 25 miles and I have traveled through that as well. That said many of the tunnels on the London Underground are longer than Mont Blanc.

No, it is no longer the longest tunnel in the world. Did you notice that I said, "when it was completed" in 1965, it was the longest tunnel in the world. But, that is great, that you have been through it AND the Channel Tunnel too. That's the one they call the Chunnel, right?
I don't even know what the London Underground is. Tell us about that.

@IreneVincent The lazy British press christened it the chunnel to save words. The London Underground, also known as the Tube is London's underground railway, like the New York Subway. These are real tunnels, not cut and fill and I believe the longest tunnel on the network is 28 miles.

@pgiblett Well, OK then. I didn't know that the underground railway in London was called the London Underground or even the Tube. I've been to London twice but I'm glad to learn something new. Thanks for enlightening me.
