9 to 5 or business?

February 4, 2016 2:17am CST
I’ve worked out all pros and cons of both honestly and to conclude I’m little inclined towards own business instead of working 9 to 5 for others. I’m just not able to leave the full time job and can not focus on business of own. First of all I do not have any ideas as to where should I start. Secondly, will I be able to spare some time for it without leaving the current job. Gradually if everything works out well I can shift focus completely either way.

I am a big fan of implementation.. the key to start any business, is get started first. It's only then it has a chance to grow or flop.

@anh101 ya, which is why I always recommend people to "get it started first".. then work out the details later.

@Drosophila yeah, better that way since, people say learn, learn, and they won't stop learning, not jump out of the cycle of 9 to 5, not worried about money how to earn money, run business. 9 to 5 job really make people proud when look at those who is doing their starting in biz

@Drosophila I am kind of not reading much about it, since I think everyone experience different taste of life. Even like make money online also, I never been successful with any survey site while people are right? It's completely different feelings about surveys among people. I think business is also the same story, different journeys

It would be best if you had a good idea of what business you wanted and the backing for funding, before you left your job. Some jobs are wonderful working for 8 hours a day. Some businesses are nothing great if they give you worries. I wish you luck.

Either it is no idea at all or there are too many ideas.

I'm currently employed in a 9 to 5 day job but in the future I'd also like to have my own business. I don't have the capital yet to start one and I don't know what business to start as well. Hopefully I can meet people who can mentor me about entrepreneurship and having a business of my own. Good luck to you!

They say business or start up could run without capital also, I do not see how, but there is good website I'm subscribed to. See if it could be of any help. www.entrepreneur.com Good luck to you too

@iwillfly You put a full stop after your link and, as a result, it doesn't work. Edit your comment to remove the link and then reinsert it leaving a space either side of it.

Owning a business seems like a great thing. However, like you, I have no idea where you would even start to do this. There have to be resources online that could give you step-by-step instructions (although I feel like a site like eHow will not, lol). To me, it sounds like somewhat of a headache and very risky. But a lot of start-up businesses succeed and do really well. It would be really nice if you were your own boss, though. Best of luck to you - keep us posted in your journey if you decide to go that route.

That's a bit hard when you have a job to do as well. What I did is have a low maintainance type of business. I have an online shop so I can sell my items without the need to attend in it full time. I'll quit my job once the business is doing well to focus on that. You may want to try that.

Having been in both the scenarios, I think both have their pros and cons. But if you want your business to become a really serious venture, a part time arrangement in most cases won't work. At the same time, you shouldn't get into business without doing some kind of research into what do you actually want to do. The needs of a business are end-to-end and are very challenging.
