Current unrestricted free agent running back Doug Martin said on the Pro Football Live radio show with Mike Florio that he would like to sign a new contract with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers before the start of free agency which begins in March. Martin was a first round draft choice of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the 2012 National Football League draft out of Boise State University. The Buccaneers management decided not to pick up his fifth year option before the start of the 2015 football season. Martin said in the interview with Mike Florio that the Buccaneers management is trying to negotiate a new contract before the start of free agency that begins in March. If the Buccaneers management are not able to reach a new contract agreement with Martin to renew his contract before the start of free agency ,they will have the option of placing a franchise tag on him that will have under contract throughout the 2016 football season or let him test the free agent market. Martin admits that he has a home in the Tampa area. The last thing he wants to do is move to another city if the Buccaneers decide to let him test the free agent market in March 2016.
