Speaking of Religion: Is It Debatable?

In every corners of the world, when it comes to religion some people are so strong to defend their sides. Others even claimed that they are a true profit being in their own religion. There is one time that a friend of mind keeps on nagging that her religion is the best thing happened to her. I do respect her faith in that religion. The downside, she criticized my religion. In time like this, I dropped a bomb shell of having another topic. I anticipate that it would be a never ending story for her. She won’t stop until proven something. In some point, she changed her behavior like swallowing me up as a whole. I don’t think that a religion should be debatable. As long as you believe that there is only one God and nothing needs to scrutinize one’s beliefs. Have you ever encountered such person?

I encounter things all the time like that. In my opinion there should be no religion. Why? Because all people do is argue about theirs over others and try to prove theirs is the right one when it is belief based. It doesn't matter what level of texts and writings exist with it, because nothing verifies the truth in those words. One belief to the next is just like the belief that someone can fly off a bridge by flapping their arms: unrealistic. One unrealistic argument against the other is just pointless.
Believe what you what to believe, but the second you try to shove it on someone else, you lose all credit.
Trying to back up a faith with something like a 'miracle' or an 'event' could be attributed to human spirits just as easily as gods, so it doesn't serve as evidence either, because one way or another, it's interpreted, not evidence.

@OneOfMany I must admit that I am not a typical religious person who always go to the church. I used to believe that there is only one God. Because of so many beliefs, some people are starting to prove what's right or wrong based on their religion's doctrines.

Is it debatable? Is what debatable religion or religious belief or belief period?
@Shavkat I'm confused, you wrote in comment "I used to believe there is only one God but in the post wrote, as long as you belief in one God?" So which is it? What do you believe in? That is a starting point.
@OneOfMany you are just as confusing to me. What do you believe? Is there one God or something else?
Perhaps what both of you really want is to discuss what other people believe in without involvement?

@Shavkat Yet the Judaism, Muslim, and Christianity faiths are all based partly on Ancient Sumerian stories that were re-written into the new age. And they messed up because it's only half of the story. Creative license does not mean correctness, it means fabrication in this case. All of their religions are sourced on incorrect story telling. That's a lot of faiths in this world that are automatically wrong (yet they think they are the only ones that are right).

I think I am a person like her, lol. But Im not stubborn to prove anything and I never like to show something as bad. I just ask the reason behind it and thats it. And as my belief I should pass the message to to all I could. I just do that. It is God who guides them.
I think religions should be a debatable matter. Because nowadays some people are using religions as a mask to stay behind and do cruel things against humanity, which causes others to misunderstand that particular religion's people.
If we had debates then we come to know what it really teaches. I mean debates by the healthy ones. Not the ones they use to abuse others. I hate them.

I have encountered many such people in my life and that is part of the reason that I am no long a follower of religion. I agree with you that religion is not debatable with such people. I have had some good discussions with open minded people like you but it is pointless to talk to people who have been brainwashed into thinking that their way is the only way. I now say that I am spiritual but not religious. I believe that we are eternal beings and that life never ends but other than that it is all a great mystery. Religion can do more harm than good. Blessings.

If religion is not open to discussion or debatable then why does God condemn certain religions in the Bible? Why did Jesus also do that? Yes, everyone can worship as they please but not every path is right as Jesus said the few find the road to life.

@1hopefulman It seems religions are really a never ending story. But I agree with you. It was in the bible that we can never worship anyone but only God alone.

@1hopefulman I am referring to the creation of the 10 Commandments during the time Moises talked directly to God in the Bible.

Sadly, even priests themselves do not think like this. Some would even bash other religions during mass. Sure, religion can change one's behavior. However, there are self righteous pricks who think like they know everything and start thinking like they've been enlightened to a godly level.

@Tierkreisze You said it right my dear friend. In our country, there are so many religions. I won't say about the name of my friend's religion since I don't want to create fire out of this post. I always respect their beliefs and practices, but they need also of what I believed in.

@Tierkreisze I heard about that. I have also courted a girl before, she keeps on rejecting me due to indifferent religion. But she likes me though. Religion is really big deal for her.

@Shavkat What's worse, even romantic relationships between people of different religions are unaccepted. They should really get a life.
