You Are The Sum of All The Choices You Make

I actually heard that on a television program I was watching earlier this evening. Now, I can’t even remember who said it, but I wrote it down. If you take the time to think back to the events in your life where you had to make choices, you will realize that you are exactly where you are today because of the choices you made. In ten or twenty years you will be in a place based on the choices you make starting today. The good thing about that is that, if you are in your early years of life, you still have the option to either change your direction or to stay on the path you have already chosen. Even if you are a senior citizen, like me, you can still make choices that can change your life. Case in point – I just published my first novel, and have already started writing another novel. I will be 74 years old next month. But, my advice is: Don’t wait! Write down some things that you want to accomplish and then map out a plan to take the steps that need to be taken in order to get things done. You have to take the first step asap (as soon as possible) and then keep going. There may be “bumps in the road” that can slow down your progress, but you just have to roll over them and keep going. I read that Ernest Hemingway was rejected over 90 times before he was ever published. Of course, he wasn’t able to use the modern technology that we have today. Nevertheless, he just kept trying and eventually he won the Nobel Prize for writing. So don’t quit!

You are never too old to accomplish a goal if you set your mind to do it and don't give up.

That is certainly what I believe. My goal this year is to publish another novel, among other things. I also want to publish my poems.
