Carolina Panthers head coach Ron Rivera on Friday said in a conference call at the site of Super Bowl 50 that his defensive lineman Jared Allen will start in Super Bowl 50 on Sunday.
The Carolina Panthers (15-1) will be the National Football Conference representative versus the Denver Broncos (12-4) who will be the American Football Conference in Super Bowl 50 that will be played at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara California on Sunday February 7, 2016.
Allen broke a small bone in his right foot during the Panthers win over the Seattle Seahawks in the National Football Conference Divisional Playoff Game.
Rivera received clearance from the doctors of the Panthers football team this week.
Allen will be playing in his first Super Bowl on Sunday even though it is possible that he will have a limited role during the football game versus the Broncos since he will be needed for the duration of the game.
The Panthers are seeking their first Super Bowl championship in the history of their football franchise that played in their first season in the National Football League in 1995.
The Denver Broncos will be seeking to win their third Super Bowl championship in their eighth appearance in the Big Game since they started playing football as a member of the American Football League in 1960.
On a related note Carolina Panthers linebacker Thomas Davis who suffered a broken right forearm during the Panthers win over the Arizona Cardinals will also make be the starting linebacker for the football team on Sunday in Super Bowl 50.
