Good-bye Persona Paper

Wrote my last article on Persona Paper. I will miss that place. Not that it didn’t have issues. The ads slowed the page loading down. I kept my sound on mute when I when there because of the many obnoxious ads that played over and over again and couldn’t be stopped. But it was a friendly place, and the people nice and interesting. Also, the owners had designed it so that it was virtually free of spammers, scammers and plagiarizes that have plagued other sites. They also made it a practice—not just a “policy”—to be open with members about problems they were facing and steps they were taking to address those problems. I’ll pop in to read, comment and say good-bye until the site goes away, but I won’t write any more articles. I’ll miss the place.

Thank goodness for the @msiduri as I wouldn't have recognized you from PP. We are all seemingly coming over here.

Many people are. I've been over here for some months, but only active since the announcement of PP's imminent demise.

I'm rather sad about leaving the site. But as they say, reality and all that. So now I am going to give this one a go and see what happens.

@msiduri I hope so too. To be honest , I don't think I could handle another site collapse. I get really twitchy when I can't write -- it's a strong part of my therapy, and when I don't have it to go to, my general state starts to slip.

Same here. The biggie for me was Epinions. I was there thirteen years. And then it went away.

Hi, LeaPea! Good to see you. I felt bad saying good-bye. I'm glad the owners handled it the way they did, though.

I just sent a message on facebook to you and now here in case you don't get on facebook on Super Bowl 50 day. I will miss PP to even only been there for five months. Loved writing there.

I don't see your request on Facebook. Superbowl 50 won't interfere with my routine. I doubt there are too many people with my name.

@msiduri I always wonder what happens to people where they go when places shut down.

@OKennedy Usually, they find other places. Or they start their own blogs. Or take up writing projects. I've known people to do all of the above.

I have been a member here for ten years and little has changed - but when it comes to a website like this, that's a good thing. I was inactive for a while but recognize a couple of names here and there and almost every day I see someone new join the site that I knew from one of the others.

Of all the writing sites, I miss Bubblews the most. I do not like the management team, but when Bubblews was paying great, the whole place is buzzing with activities.

It was buzzing and it was fun for a while, but there were so many scammers I spent time each day removing their crap from my posts. And the plagiarism! It was rampant. I was never a high earner there. Maybe that's why I'm so impatient with everything else. I was paid everything I was owed, but some of my friends were not. One of my friends had his account deleted without explanation just before he would have reached payout.

I did toy with the idea of joining there, but never got round to it. Sorry it's gone as you liked it there.

Yes, it was quite laid back. A nice little place. Many of the people who were there are on ML, though. But I still miss PP.
