Have you heard of Huajian Group? You probably do not. You probably admire the shoes made by Huajian Group and wish that you have the money to buy it. If you have heard of Coach, Nine West, Guess, Easy Spirit, Marco Polo, Enzo, Sears, Clarks and Zara, and you like the look of their shoes, you have seen the handiwork of Huajian Group. Huajian Group makes the shoes for all these brands. Many of the shoes are no longer made in China. Huajian Group has opened a very large factory in Ethiopia to make the leather shoes. That was due to the effort of the former Prime Minister of Ethiopia. He personally invited Huajian Group to open a factory there, and highlighted the cheap labor and the high quality leather. Next time when you see a pair of branded leather shoes that cost $500, you can think of the workers in Ethiopia. They probably make less than $100 a month.

Looks like history is repeating itself, Western factories moved to China because of cheap labor, now China moves to Africa because of cheaper labor, wonder where this would end

It will end with jobs moving back to the developed countries. Once they have run out of cheap labor, they will think about other issues, and that includes having the country of manufacture in developed countries.

Not many people know where the products come from. Most people assume that items are made in China, but not all are made completely in China. In this instance, the shoes are made in Africa, and then ship to China for labeling or ship directly to consumers.

That is sad. They must be really working hard to meet the ends.
