Many of us are too smart. We are so smart that we cannot see that investing in toilet paper is one of the best ways to beat the stock market. What is so great about the humble toilet paper? For one thing, there is no good alternative. You can probably use leaves if you want to save money but I doubt you want to do that. When there is no substitute, the product is guaranteed to make money, If you think about it, you probably cannot name a company that sells toilet paper that ends up in bankruptcy. Another reason is that toilet paper is a recurring expense for all of us. It is different from buying a bed. You use the bed every night, but you buy once in 10 years. Toilet paper is different. You have to use it every day. That is why you have to think about buying shares of Procter & Gamble and Kimberly-Clark. If you have invested in both companies in 2009 and hold the shares till now, you would have made a lot of money.

Cool thoughts..I tried to get the husband to buy Goggle when they started. He didn't understand how big the computer was going to get, he didn't buy any and I will never let him forget it.

You could have bought it if you are confident in the business model! So, don't blame your husband!

You never know with internet companies. If you had invested on Lycos at the same moment you would have lost your money. Investing in toilet paper is certainly more secure, but I doubt that anyone can earn a lot with toilet paper.

@topffer Procter and Gamble sell a lot more than toilet paper and they have been doing very well for decades.

The only threat i guess is competition, since you posted the idea on Mylot, more people would be making it, increasing supply and lessening the demand

It is hard to compete on toilet papers! There are just a few manufacturers in the world for good quality toilet papers. If the manufacturer has exclusive with one company, they will not supply to you.
