Former Kansas City Royals right handed relief pitcher Joel Peralta, 39, has signed a minor league contract with the Seattle Mariners on Tuesday. Peralta became a free agent at the end of the 2015 baseball season when the Los Angeles Dodgers decided not to renew his option to pitch for their team in 2016. Peralta will be invited to try out to make the Seattle Mariners roster during the Spring Training sessions that will held in Peoria Arizona. Peralta made his debut in the Major Leagues with the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim in 2005. Peralta has pitched for the Angels, Kansas City Royals, Colorado Rockies, Washington Nationals, Tampa Bay Rays and Los Angeles Dodgers. Peralta had a pitching record of three wins and one loss with an earned run average of 4.34 in 33 games pitched for the Dodgers in relief during the 2015 baseball season. The Mariners could use a veteran relief pitcher like Peralta on the team during the 2016 baseball season if he makes the team during the spring training sessions that begin in March.

I think Peralta has a good chance of making the Mariner staff and if he pitches like last year, he will help Seattle.
