Former Carolina Panthers linebacker Jon Beason on Wednesday has announced his retirement from playing football in the National Football League after nine seasons.
Beason was a first round draft choice of the Carolina Panthers in the 2007 National Football League Draft out of the University of Miami Florida.
Beason played linebacker with the Carolina Panthers from 2007-2013 before he was traded to the New York Giants on October 4,2013 in exchange for the Giants seventh round draft choice.
Beason was released by the Giants football team on Wednesday since injuries have limited his playing time on the gridiron for the last two football seasons. Beason decided to retire instead of leaving the game as a player that was released by his employer on Wednesday.
It is possible that Beason could be working as a commentator with a television network soon since he has the ability to share his knowledge of football to the many fans who watch the sports in the near future.
Beason was a three time Pro Bowl selection as well as a first team All Pro in 2008 and a second team All Pro in 2009.
