So far since I logged in earlier I have read a few posts around the world from myL members who are complaining about the cold and the winter arriving again. Well it is the same with me in Scotland, UK. We are currently facing temperatures of between 1C and 5C or, 33.8F to 41F. It effectively means getting out the thickest of winter clothing yet again! But whilst buyers are currently buying lots of soup makers, I already have a soup maker in the form of my slow cooker. It is like a crock pot with a heated element underneath, has a low energy efficient element which means I can use a time switch to time the pot to switch on and means I can cook the juiciest stews or tender chicken casseroles or make tons of chicken soup or vegetable soup, or even something in between! The beauty of the slow cooker is that it cooks everything to perfection and slowly over a period of time - so handy for us 9 to 5 workers. Switch on in the morning and return home to a ready cooked meal! I thought I was over the use of the slow cooker since I use it mostly in the winter months, but it looks like I am going to be making soup again to see these cold days through. TIP: Don't bother buying a soup maker - buy a slow cooker or electric crock pot, a mechanical plug in time switch and use a hand stick blender to blend the soup whilst it cooks. So much more can be made and installed into a freezer if you know the weather is going to get chillier! Thanks for reading. (c)Nar2/crystalvisions

Summer, Fall, Winter, Spring - it doesn't matter to me, I frequently use my slow cooker.

We expect some snow dusting but that is it. I think *next week* we are to get worse stuff again. We have several Slow cooker type electric pots. One is a crock pot and another is like a big soup pot. We do use both. It seems though there are too many variants of things on the market. Specialty "cookers" for different things when we already have a perfectly suitable thing in the house already. Stay Warm.

I didn't know there was another machine called a soup maker. I think I have enough "makers"
