I think I hit the proverbial jackpot in research this morning. I randomly typed in "tips and tricks to saving money for travel" and came across this website. It outlines several different sites that might be of interest to those who like to travel.
There is a lot that can be discussed about this link and so I will just provide it and let everyone comment on what they like, dislike, would amend, or would add.
*Link is for reference only*

I would not amend anything on there.
I would just add stop spending unnecessarily and thats it.
If you want something bad enough, you will stop all those little drains on your income so that you can actually achieve something you want.
I think the ideas are great.

That is one of the hardest things to do. It's so easy to go in and grab a cup of coffee from a starbucks, or get a drink when you fill up the gas tank.

@TiarasOceanView It becomes second nature / habit to the point that people do not even realize they do it. Atleast I can say I am not buying starbucks.

This is true. Traveling when it's not really a "tourist season" does save a lot of money. Things are marked up considerably when it's warmer weather.

@ScribbledAdNauseum We went to Portugal in October; it was beach weather in the South and nice traveling weather all over and all the room prices dropped after a certain date. It does work to travel off peak.
We certainly made some of our own meals and as that website points out shopping in local shops and markets is at least as interesting as eating in restaurants daily.

@paigea I am more interesting in the path less traveled anyway. If I want to learn about something I can just as easily stay home and research it you know?

Yes, that site is more for people who need ways to allocate funds for a trip.

Some good concepts. I could never open a registry for people to donate to my vacation. I am already putting change aside for a dedicated vacation account. Unfortunately it grows ver slowly.

Yes I don't think I could open a registry either. I guess it's just a pride thing, for lack of a better term.

I haven't always been frugal myself. I kind of stand in the middle between two sides. Let me clarify, My grandfather (and most of the men in my family) are penny pinchers while my grandmother (and some but not ALL) and the other women in my family tend to spend a lot of money.
I spend and then I might end up regretting it. I try to save as much as I can, I already have one savings account with my bank that has a healthy sum in it. I want a savings account option where I can transfer from one to another but with a healthy interest rate and no fixed deposit amount. One of the options there, piggy something or another, seems interesting enough.
