Day 4 – Decisions Esther 4 Everyday we make decisions that affect our future in some way. Sometimes those decisions have short range or long range effects. For those important decisions that will change the course of your life, it is like standing at a crossroads and you need to decide which way to go. Which course of action is best for your future? Esther had come to such a crossroad. Haman made a decree in the king’s name and sealed with the king’s seal which meant it couldn’t be changed according to the law of the Medes and Persians. That decree would cause the demise of every Jew in Persia, not just Babylon. Her decision would not be taken lightly, but she called for a three day fast in order to discern God’s will in the matter. Mordecai told her she had come to her position for just such a time – to save her people. Would she make the right decision? Mordecai had told Esther to keep the secret of her lineage from everyone. Until that moment the only person who knew she was Jewish was Mordecai. However, she needed to trust one more person with her secret as she communicated with Mordecai who could not come into the palace grounds because he sat in sackcloth and ashes, and that was the king’s chamberlain, whom the king appointed to her. The answer she sent with the king’s chamberlain to Mordecai showed him she was also a Jew, bound for execution according to Haman’s plan when she sent Mordecai the answer – If I perish, I perish. We all come to the crossroads in our lives when we make the decision to follow God and accept Jesus as Savior and Lord, or continue on the path of destruction, listening to all the lies of Satan as he plans our demise. When you take the leap of faith and say yes to Jesus Christ, accepting Him as Savior and Lord, He puts out His scepter and grants you life. Esther knew King Artaxerxes could withhold the scepter when she went to him, which is why she sent the message to Mordecai – If I perish, I perish. Are you standing at the crossroads between life as a Christian, accepting Jesus as Savior and Lord; and that of the world as you continue to live the lifestyle you have from the beginning without change? One road leads to life, the other to death. Let’s pray: Father, thank you for the decision to make Jesus my Savior and Lord. Help me to stand firm in my faith, knowing Satan stands ready to destroy me. In Jesus’ name, I pray, amen. Copyright © 13 February 2016 by Valerie Jean Routhieaux Image courtesy of Pixabay

@just4him good to hear, so how do you know you're going down the right path? I'm very interested in hearing more of your experience.

@Drosophila I know I'm going down the right path, mainly by the opposition I get. Satan will do everything he can to obstruct our way and cause us to veer off in another direction. I can also tell I'm on the right path because of the blessings God gives me.
