A report from the Boston Globe on Sunday says current free agent Franklin Morales who recently pitcher for the Kansas City Royals is drawing interest from the Boston Red Sox to sign a minor league contract to try out for their baseball team in 2016.
Morales has pitched in the Major Leagues for the Colorado Rockies (2007-2011), the Boston Red Sox (2011-2013), Colorado Rockies (2014) and the Kansas City Royals in 2015.
Morales became a free agent at the end of the 2015 baseball season when the Royals did not offer him a contract to return to pitch for them in 2016.
Morales if he does sign a contract with the Red Sox would be invited to Spring training in Fort Myers Florida to try out to be one of the left handed relief pitching specialists.
Robbie Ross is the only left handed relief pitcher on the Red Sox roster that is expected to be on the Opening Day roster in 2016 as of now.
The Red Sox are also interested in signing to a minor league contract left handed relief pitcher Neal Cotts who is also a free agent after the Minnesota Twins decided not to offer him a new contract after the end of the 2015 baseball season.

I do not recall Morales. He must have received a World Series ring if he was on the Royals roster.
