Pictured are two books that I have and need to start reading. I have read a bit out of "The Mabinogion" which is a book full of Welsh Tales. The other, smaller book, I've only skimmed through a bit.
According to the Publisher's Preface within, "Mabinogion" means "tales of youth". The stories within this book are taken from the dark ages of Wales, and features Celtic Mythology as well.
The version I have was Translated from Welsh by Lady Charlotte Guest in 1887.
One tale made into song form by Ceredwen is "Blwddyn I Heno" I'll leave the link for anyone who wants to listen to it. The song is in Welsh but there is a translation as well as explanation of the story within the description on youtube.

I read The Mabinogion some years ago. I've forgotten details. I think my favorite was the story of how Christianity came to the Orkneys.(?) I was disappointed when I read that it probably 'twart so. There's also a great story from pagan days about a decapitated head getting revenge on the guy did the guy in.

I've only read a little bit of itm maybe 25 pages in or so. THe pagan story I'll have to find and let a friend know about, he'll get a good kick out of it.
Any other mythology type books you've read and can recommend?

I probably could have used the Irish fairy and folktales when I was writing my first novel but had to search on the internet for research.

I found that on barnes and nobles website. The internet has a lot of the same sort of information a book would have, so either way would work really.

I found these online. The Mabinogion I found at amazon. The other was one I purchased from a gift card on barnes and noble.com
I am sure you could probably find some at your library or even just look the information up online. I love reading about stuff like this, though in high school I wasn't such a big fan of it.
