“I will get back to you…”

Have you ever been promised or committed to and yet there was no follow through? I know that we should not put our entire trust to someone, and basically to lower our expectations a bit so we can spare ourselves from disappointment. But I have a hard time learning how to do just that in a professional setting. When someone from work told me that they will get back at me for something really important (most of the time), I really cannot help it but count on them and rely on their word of honor. A few times I have to be the one to follow up multiple times before I can receive any feedback. It is disappointing, sometimes I even thought about getting back at them by giving them a dose of their own medicine but then I do not want it to reflect poorly on me on how I do my job. There is really nothing much I can do about it but follow up nicely, send reminders, and try my best to work on what I have.

Uh yeah, that sucks. But I'm also guilty of this sin. Sometimes, I tend to forget because I'm so busy with many other things.

I am sure that once somebody followed up from you, you will take care of it. In my case it would take a couple more follow ups before anything is resolved.

@Raine38 Uh yeah. Of course, when I'm reminded I get back to the task.

We will have some promises broken but we should try our best to keep them. If we're unable to do so then we should explain our reasons and perhaps we can see that whatever we promised is scheduled for a later date.

That's true. We expect them to at least have a good reason.
