I Ruined My Dress

I know that we have to separate whites from colored clothes when we wash. I have this expensive dress that I only worn twice. I washed it along with other whites. It is actually a dress with immaculate white in the middle, black on the sides and the sleeves are blue. After soaping, I saw that the white middle has scattered blue coloration. YIKes! I wonder what happened because I washed it this way before. I cannot do anything with it now. I have to consider it as one of the house clothes now.
