Day 4 – Your Résumé – Your Confidence Job 4:1-11 Most of us have been on job interviews. In preparing for our interview we assemble all the things that benefit us for the job we hope to gain. We focus on our strengths, leaving out anything that would harm our chances of getting the job. Job had three friends who came to solace him in his trouble. Eliphaz was the first to speak, and as he began to console Job, he reminded him about all he had done. 1. Instructed many 2. Strengthened weak hands 3. Held up those in danger of falling 4. Strengthened feeble knees In other words, Job helped everyone who needed help, and when it was time for him to need help, Eliphaz condemned him. Yes, he condemned him for being afraid, for lacking hope and confidence. Instead of bolstering him, for all he did, he focused on Job’s weakness. When we come to an interview, it isn’t our strengths the interviewee looks at, but the interviewee asks what our weakness is and what we did to overcome that weakness. The interviewee asks about any trouble we had with other employees in our last position. What do we do? How do we respond? I know there are seminars on how to answer those questions that would ruin our chances to get the job of our dreams. Eliphaz berates Job in the same way. Kicking him when he’s down, telling him he doesn’t have it in him to be all he showed himself to be when things were going well for him. Eliphaz told Job that no one with sin on their hands can stand before God; they will always reap what they sow. As Christians, Satan is always looking for an occasion against us. He condemns our weakness, berates us for our lack of confidence, and tells us we are losers, reaping what we sow. If we were to listen to Satan, we would live in fear, afraid of everything we think, say, and do. However, our confidence is in Jesus Christ. Therefore we are without condemnation. Romans 8:1 There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. 2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death. 3 For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh: 4 That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. (KJV) Is someone trying to strip you of your confidence? Do you feel beaten down and worthless? If Jesus is your Savior, you can stand tall with your shoulders squared and look your condemner in the face and tell him to get away from you. Your confidence is in Jesus Christ. Let’s pray: Father, thank you for giving me the confidence I need through Jesus Christ my Savior. Help me to tell Satan to flee from me whenever he comes at me trying to tell me I am nothing, because in Jesus Christ there is no condemnation. In Jesus’ name, I pray, amen. Very good Bible study. I am glad that God looks at our heart and sees us as redeemed by His blood, and we can be confident in Him

Me too. I just love it when people think they have all the answers and then are offended when we don't heed their advice
