Risen is not your typical Christian movie about Jesus' death and resurrection. This one is done from a completely different point of view - that of a non-believer - a Roman Tribune. He is first tasked with seeing to Jesus' death and then finding His body amid rumors of Jesus' resurrection.
Joseph Fiennes is Clavius - Roman Tribune
Tom Felton is Lucius - his aid
Peter Firth is Pilate
Cliff Curtis is Yeshua (Jesus)
Written and directed by Kevin Reynolds, Risen is filmed in Spain and Malta from what I gathered from the credits.
Overall I give Risen a 4.5 star rating. Not because the film isn't good, it's very good, but the actors aren't as well-known or seasoned to give it that extra depth it could have. I give the story five stars. It's well-known story with a twist from a different perspective adds cultural depth to the movie. It's location, though not Israel, also makes the story believable, and is worth five stars.
Below is the trailer from the movie.
Have you seen any good movies lately?
Thanks for reading.
Witness one of the most important events in human history through the eyes of a nonbeliever. Risen is a depiction of events surrounding Christ's missing body...
