ESPN.com reporter Marc Stein on Thursday reported the news the Brooklyn Nets have released their small forward Joe Johnson.
Johnson, 34, was able to reach a mutual agreement with the Nets to release him so he can become a free agent and pursue his dream of winning his first National Basketball Association Finals championship ring.
The Nets who currently have a record of 15 wins and 42 losses are not in contention to make the playoffs this year.
Johnson will be able to search for a playoff team that will be needing his services after 5pm eastern time on Saturday when he clears waivers.
The Cleveland Cavaliers are interested in hiring Johnson to join their team for the remainder of the 2015-16 basketball season. The Cavaliers are the defending Eastern Conference Champions.
The report from ESPN.com states that the Atlanta Hawks are also interested in hiring Johnson to play basketball for their team for a second time. Johnson played basketball for the Hawks from 2005-2012.
Johnson was a first round draft choice of the Boston Celtics in the 2001 National Basketball Association Draft out of the University of Arkansas.
Johnson will most likely be playing basketball for the next time that signs him in a reserve role for the remainder of the 2015-16 basketball season.

So Brooklyn finally pulled the trigger. Johnson will find another team no problem. He made a ton of money with an obscene contract so he can for peanuts while chasing a ring.
