A report from ESPN.com on Friday said former Brooklyn Nets guard Joe Johnson who was released this week is going to be signing a contract with the Miami Heat as soon as he clears the waiver wire on Saturday afternoon. Johnson had offers to play basketball with the Cleveland Cavaliers, Atlanta Hawks and the Miami Heat after he was released by the Nets. Cleveland Cavaliers forward LeBron James was expecting Johnson to join the Cavaliers since they are the defending National Basketball Association Eastern Conference Champions as of Friday morning before several news reports has Johnson signing a contract with the Heat who do not have the services of forward and center Chris Bosh who is battling an undisclosed illness and reserve point guard Beno Udrih will miss the rest of the current basketball season after he had surgery on his foot recently. Johnson gets the best of both worlds by joining the Heat who are in contention to make the playoffs this year and he will get more playing time with the Heat for the remainder of the current basketball season.

The Heat? Johnson must be more interested in playing time and possibly a bigger paycheck than being on a team likely to make the finals.
