Why Are People Rude

I'm sure we have all met that jerk who cuts in line. Certain individuals make the personal choice and conscious decision to be mean or offensive towards total strangers or their loved ones. After consulting with the spirit animal of rude behaviors, I've compiled a list of reasons why. I have to stress that these are my personal opinion. 1. Rude people struggle with themselves. People can tell that they can't emotionally regulate, which explains their recklessness - Ever seen jail culture? 2. Rude people have a warped sense of reality, they have no self-awareness, and are deluded in their own sense of self-righteousness - Look up the most Hated Family in America and you'll get the picture. 3. Rude people want others to feel bad because deep down inside they feel bad about themselves (it's not about the people they are rude to, it's about pacifying themselves) - Medical research has linked jealousy with aggression and low-self esteem. 4. Rude individuals could be diagnosed with, or are suffering from undiagnosed psychological disorders which lead them to behave brazenly - Think about mad men/women out bursting in public. Why are people rude?

Sometimes though, rude people are just misunderstood. They were going through a lot of problems and them being stressed and miserable out got mistaken for rudeness.

@Ladypeace About your Number 4, My dad is diabetic and I think he became verbally abusive ever since he started taking medication. Those Medicines have side effects on his mental behavior.

@CaptAlbertWhisker I'm sad to hear that your dad is a diabetic and he's acting up because of his medication. It's an extremely tough condition to cope with.

Yeah, you've a good point. We shouldn't judge people based on snapshots of their actions without observing them over time. If someone displays anti-social behaviors often then it becomes telling.

Rude people want to be considered cool, tough, bad but in reality they're not! I dislike rude people.

You listed some very good reasons. I agree that for some people it is a case of low esteem.

Thanks, I feel that rude people can be paranoid because of their insecurities.

They are rude because it is a sign of insecurity. It is also a waste of time to confront these people.

Indeed! That coincides with point no. 3 and I couldn't agree more that it'd be a waste of time to engage with rude individuals. They've already made their choice.

Thanks, some have added on some other great points such as self-pity/lack of empathy and thoughts of being cool by pulling rude behaviors.

I guess they have never heard of the Golden Rule which states "Treat people the way you would like to be treated."

Yes, I think that's brilliant. It's a lack of introspection which causes rude individuals to be dysfunctional socially. Their communication skills and ability for flexible thought are also impaired.

Yes, some do find it hard to be considerate and polite, but there are also many other nice people out there!
