Rotoworld reports on Saturday the Arizona Diamondbacks have signed to a minor league contract former Milwaukee Brewers outfielder and infielder Rickie Weeks. Weeks, 33, will report to the Diamondbacks Spring training facility in Scottsdale Arizona in an attempt to make the Diamondbacks 40 man roster. Weeks played baseball for the Milwaukee Brewers from 2003. 2005-2014 and the Seattle Mariners during the 2015 Major League Baseball season. The Mariners released Weeks from his contract on June 21 after he was designated for assignment on June 13, 2015. His battling average of .167 during the only season he was with the Mariners was the main reason they released him. Weeks was not able to find another team in the Major Leagues that needed his services after he was released last June. The Diamondbacks are giving him a chance to make a comeback to play in the Major Leagues in 2016 even though the feeling from many sports reporters is that he has past his prime as a second baseman and outfielder based on his performance with the Mariners in 2015.

I had forgotten about Rickie Weeks. Must be sad being 33 and considered past your prime and watch Chase Utley get $7 million. Weeks was decent at Milwaukee.

That is true. I have the Nintendo MLB 2K8 baseball game in my collection. Weeks is a member of the Brewers team.
