Although it is expected, the massacre still comes as a shock to the populace of the little hamlet, Down There. The past has brought them hundreds of massacres, filling the land with blood and gore. Sometimes they are fortunate and there is only a little mess to clear up after the battle has been lost. Other times the blood continues to flow, seemingly for ever, the clots fly, causing sadness and disgust, and finally the violent tears stop, the fragility is stifled and life continues as normal. ... until that day the enemy returns, battle is waged again, and another massacre occurs. Which it will, as regularly as the moon orbits the earth. *sigh*
