How difficult is it to be non judgemental?

Being judgemental is usually considered as a negative aspect of one's personality, but if I try to analyse this trait, it comes across my mind, that it is something natural to human beings and in some sense it is important to be judgmental too. I guess it is an extension of forming opinions. No matter how hard we try to be non judgmental, there may be scenarios where certain situations/circumstances/people which well make us judgmental by default. I guess the only thing we can really do about this is be aware when its affecting the choices in our lives. Awareness is the key cause we can reassess the situation when we realize that we are judging using unfair and insignificant factors.

Who says that we're using unfair factors? Sometimes we judge people absolutely correctly.

You are correct. But what about people who are always judgemental of anything. As a result of that they will form opinions quickly which according to their belief system has to be true which in turns strengthens their judgemental behavior

@avi256 I really don't know when the word 'judgemental' achieved this purely negative connotation. We've always had the term 'good judgement' - to use about people who are wise and assess situations and people well. I don't really see how that got converted into something so negative.

@boiboing I guess it may have up come up as negative trait where in some cases a judgemental person also comes across as stubborn. When your judgemental thinking takes over your logical and analytical abilities, then it slides slightly as a negative trait.

I agree with you but there is also a slogan in my country that says: "Never accept constructive criticism from someone who has not built anything in his life." While it is true that there are people who give us their views on our comprotamiento, they are sometimes confused because one thing is to think and another to judge.

It cant be avoided to react to people or on their ways that are contrary to our beliefs but I guess the best way to handle it is to have a sense of tact. We must know when to say it to the person in the right time , place and tone.

@dazzledlady Absolutely, being judgemental could be boon if we know where to use it. There is a very thin line of difference between being opinionated and being judgemental. I feel being judgemental is fine but it needs to be flexible. Our judgemental values if faced with truth and reality should be able to accept that things may not always go in sync with judgemental thinking.

I think it is very difficult. Not only in terms of living life but being content with it. That's what I think as of now. I would surely hope things change.
