If you dont have a smartphone, what would you be doing today?

Nowadays, people relied too much in technology. I realize that I am my phone with me almost 24/7. I use my phone to call ,send sms, check the internet, play games , read books and even do some scribbles except when I am asleep and use it as an alarm clock. So much, that I realize that I become too dependent on my phone. It made me think, if there where no smartphones or mobile phones what would I be doing this very time? To answer my question, i will probably reading a book in a traditional way, turning the pages, using bookmarks and using both my hands to hold the book , read as much until my eyes gets tired or my hands getting heavy. If there were no mobile phones, what would you be doing?

The same thing I am already doing. I am one of those people that only uses a phone as a phone...I don't play games on it, I don't take pictures with it, I don't listen to music with it, and I don't go on the Interwebs with it. I use it to call people, or receive calls from people. And I don't even like doing that with it.

hahaha! that is so amazing, how do you ever managed to detached yourself from this amazing invention ;) I was so thankful of the mobilephone because that means I only have to carry one thing rather than bring my laptop with me, my camera , my ipod , and psp hahaha!

@dazzledlady I come from an age when you used to leave home, and you didn't even have a phone with you, it was on the wall back home. While I spend a lot of time on the computer here at home, I don't feel a need to be constantly connected to the web. I don't play games anyway, my music comes from my album collection, and I take my camera with me if I am going on a trip and think I might see something interesting.

Me the same @JolietJake, but also whatsapp, youtube (listeng to music with it too), and for researching information for studying and doing homeworks. It's stupid doing absurd photos to uploading on social media, what have you eaten on facebook, paying too much attention on what is the people is saying about you do on Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, Snapchat... Also if you want to play a game there are better posibilities than these.

Way back in the early 1980's-1990's only a few had mobile phones but not many. Now a days, it's a different story. I would be doing what I used to back when I didn't have one. Reading a book, calling a friend from the landline, meeting friends and other ways I used to spend the time. I don't really use my mobile for much mostly texting and seldom calling. From time to time I watch youtube on it. A fun and modern technology.

Do you think that the invention of mobile phones made as less sociable in a sense that we rather interact with them through social networking sites than meeting them personally like you used to before? Do you like how it is now today or do you miss meeting people personally?

@skysnap oh bummer its always the work that is preventing s to do what we always wanted to do. I think only a few gets to have the dream job of doing what they love and getting paid for it. I guess you just have to save money and do all those things on your vacation leave.

That is good that you dont rely too much on your mobile phone. People especially living in the city is more focused on their phone than on their environment as evidenced by when you ride a train , you see a lot of people whose eyes or ears are on their mobile phones.

I only use my mobile phone to contact my siblings and parents. Its usage is limited to texting and calling my family. Also, I use it as an alarm clock. I'm not attached to my phone. If there are no cellular phones today, I will still be doing the same activities I'm currently doing. There are other ways for me to contact my family and I can buy an alarm clock to wake me up.

I'll be honest here. If there were no smartphones around, I'd be stuck watching television instead. Before smartphones got popular that's what I did anyway. Smartphones were just a newer form of entertainment. I don't really like going out that much :s

I guess you are like me who have benefited from the invention of smartphones. Now we wont be bored by only watching tv or reading books at home.
