Jeff Passan of Yahoo Sports on Tuesday reported the news that the Kansas City Royals have signed their catcher Salvador Perez, 25, to a five year, $52.5 million dollar contract extension that will keep the Most Valuable Player of the 2015 World Series under contract through the 2021 baseball season. Perez was an undrafted free agent that sign a $65,000 dollar contract with the Kansas City Royals in 2006. Perez made his debut with the Kansas City Royals in the 2011 Major League Baseball season after he paid his dues in the Royals minor league system after he signed his contract with the Royals in 2011. Perez will get a pay raise from his original five year, $7 million dollar contract that he signed in 2012. Perez has earned his pay raise from the only team he has played in the Major Leagues by winning the American League Gold Gloves for the last three straight seasons, played in three straight Major League Baseball All Star Games and being the Most Valuable Player in the 2015 World Series.

A smart move signing Perez long term in the prime of his career. He is the heart and soul of the Royals and has nudged past Yadier Molina as the best catcher in baseball.

I do know a lot of Yadier Molina since he does a lot of ink of the sports shows but not much of Salvador Perez.

The Rockies would've already traded him away for a washed up reliever.

That is true. Some teams just cannot keep good talent on their roster.

@Deepizzaguy Why can't the Rockies go back to the homer bashing days of the 90s. At least they were entertaining.

@Deepizzaguy - We need owners that care about winning. The Monfort's don't.

George Brett is one my favorite baseball players of all time. He is a class act on and off the field.
