Hell Hath No Fury! Post Office Irritation!

A family member informed me that she observed one of our regular mail personnel shoving a package (MY PACKAGE) into the mailbox. This package comes from the UK so I am not surprised when the box is a little beat up. I guess you could say I am lucky that the company I buy from packages the food up nicely. However, apparently the mail lady contributes to the deformation of the box. Now there are two mail carriers. One brings the mail up to the porch if there are packages, and he always picks up our mail. This lady apparently shoves packages into the mail box instead of bringing them up and doesn't pick up our outgoing mail. Normally I would call and unleash fury to their supervisor but our mail box isn't regulation. The lid fell off of it months and months ago and we've not replaced it yet. Not without a lack of trying. One family member picked up and picked out a mailbox but the head of household did not agree on it's size and thus the old on was not replaced. I am not going to go spending money on a bigger mailbox that might meet the same fate. Anyway, since our mailbox isn't regulation we may not have a leg to stand on in our complaints. Oh and for anyone curious, the sun is shining brightly and it's very obvious when there is outgoing mail, not only because of the flag that is put up when there is outgoing mail but also because it's not a very deep box and can't be missed. Would you call to complain anyway?

I would call and complain since you have two mail people coming by and one does take a package to you or to you mailbox while the other person is one of those who could care less about the customer and the box.

@ScribbledAdNauseum As to picking up your outgoing mail that is not something the mail carrier has to do it is a courtesy but as to shoving your package into the box that is another matter altoghter.

@Marcyaz I am not saying you are wrong, but I don't understand how picking up out going mail is a courtesy. Sure now more people are paying their bills online or via the phone, but still many pay them through the postal mail.

I am going to give it one more day of her delivering before I call. Today was when she did not pick up the outgoing mail (luckily it wasn't bills but just mail order purchases) and yesterday was when she shoved my package into the box. If she does the same thing or similar on her next delivery? Hell hath no fury.

That's awful, she was so rough with it. They should take care with other people's belongings

I know it's not an easy job and sometimes you have to make do with what you can but it's also about making the most of it and being happy. I don't know what the mail lady's problem is, but I feel as if she takes it out on us by damaging our mail.

It is irritating to me as I was always taught to do my job right. A family member told me she sat in the truck for five minutes shoving the package into the box.

You could call and not tell the post office who you are.

I know from past experience of complaining that they are going to ask. Perhaps I could give them the neighborhood but not sure that that would work either.

Everyone is suggesting that I need to talk to her individually. I don't have the chance to do so as I am never sure when she will be the one delivering the mail. Not to mention I do not know what time she might deliver and I work third shift so am asleep when she delivers the mail.

Complaining to the post office falls on deaf ears. They are government workers protected by a union who do as they please. I have seen lazy carriers kicking back and always on their cells and when confronted by complaint their response is a snarling so what attitude.

I used to work with a woman who used to work for the postal service. She has told me about how the route can be tiresome on the body. She also was a rural carrier so used her own car instead of a mail truck provided by the mail service. I've had to call and complain and got results before.
